The Courage NOW

Project

Can you remember a time where you felt so free and excited about something that you wouldn’t let anything stop you?

Introducing…

The Courage Now Project

I am gifting 30 hours of coaching during the months of May and June. These are no-strings-attached-actual-coaching conversations where you can dig into the ways you might not be stepping up in your life, staying small, letting fear run the show.

I created this project because I want to support you in believing in yourself, feeling more confident, and choosing courage in your life. I am inspired by this because I remember the way I felt as a kid, creating and performing in a circus! I want to feel that brave NOW and I want that for you too.

One summer when I was 10-years-old, I starred in a circus…

My sister, two friends, and I put on a circus for our neighborhood. Our circus “acts” consisted of a variety of dances, acrobatic routines on an old swing set, and singing songs like “You May Be Right” by Billie Joel and the Oscar Meyer theme song from a commercial!

We practiced daily for weeks. We put together costumes for every act. We “hired” a friend’s brother to dress as a clown, a neighbor kid to ride his unicycle, and some little kids to sell popcorn balls. Our circus was going to be SO GOOD, we needed some press coverage! I wrote a letter to the local paper telling them all about it.

After not hearing back for a week, it was time to get serious. I called the newspaper and asked to talk to the local reporter himself. The operator put me through to him, and he humored me as I gave him all the details. Well, circus day came and he showed up! He took photos and wrote a big article. We were pretty much famous for a whole week.

Our circus was a huge success. We made $12, a ton of money to 9 and 10-year-olds! To celebrate we promptly ran down to the corner gas station and spent it all on candy. The four of us sat on our front porch and ate it, dreaming about how next year’s circus would be even better.

When I think of this memory, three things come to mind:

#1

I was SO ballsy. I was brave and confident. I didn’t let my fears get in the way of what my heart wanted. That was to create, to be seen, and to have fun and no one was going to stop me.

When did that brave girl stop being so BRAVE?

#2

I BELIEVED wholeheartedly. I was so invested in this idea, that I didn’t even entertain the thought that it wouldn’t work out. I was not worried if people would show up. I had faith it would all work out great. I was all in.

Why is believing and trusting in myself so much harder now?

#3

That little girl was the authentic me. I didn’t care what other people thought about me and my bad singing or the whole crazy idea. I was excited about it and remember feeling this sense of freedom and joy during that summer.

Where in my life do I hide?
Where am I afraid to step up and shine?
