The Art of Play
I am a bit of an expert on the art of play. Yep. I am a 50-year old lady who schedules time to practice hula hoop dance during a normal weekday. I also wake up and either write in my journal or paint some flowers with watercolor whilst enjoying my coffee. I make it a point to go outside everyday. I lean into the things that bring me joy.
It hasn’t always this way. We live in a society that values being busy and working long hours. I have tried this and guess what? It didn’t work for me. I was scattered, exhausted, and burnt out. I wasn’t even making that much money!
I have recently become fascinated with Human Design. If you haven’t heard of it yet, I highly recommend checking it out HERE. It is a system that provides you with a blueprint of your authentic self and gives you a roadmap of how you can function at your best in all areas of life. There are 5 types in HD. I am a Generator. A quick summary of the Generator is that we are little powerhouses of energy when doing the RIGHT work and following the things that light us up inside. Once I learned this, my life made a lot more sense. It explained why I was feeling so tired and unmotivated when I was working all the time and had jobs that were not my passion. And why I was constantly day dreaming about what I’d rather be doing. My Generator mantras are “The more fun I have, the more money I make!” and “I prioritize BLISS every single day. “ I find that now when I make time for play, I actually get more done during the times I’m not playing. Go figure!
Give this a try this week because everyone deserves a little play in their life. This simple act of surrendering and just letting things be for a little while can do wonders for a soul. What brings you joy? What lights you up? What is something you could do for even 10 minutes that would bring a big smile to your face?
OMG. Look at the time. Time for me to go outside and HOOP!
